Dachshund Attacked in Own Home by Pit Bull

Meet poor little 18-month-old 'Mac,' who hails from Watertown, New York.  A loose Pit Bull charged into his house and started attacking him last weekend.  Luckily his Dad came to his rescue, stabbing and killing the Pit Bull.  Not exactly a fun-filled story to be sharing on a wonderful Friday, but it just goes to show you that you can never let your guard down, Dachshund Brethren.  We hope that Mac has a complete recovery from this horrific ordeal.

Oh my goodness, terrible. So glad his daddy rescued him. I hope he has an easy recovery both physically and emotionally. Kisses to him. Robin & Macy

Poor baby. Yet another pit bull attack. I am so tired of people defending them, they are predisposed to being aggressive and need to be kept away from others. Irresponsible owners with very potentially dangerous dogs.

Both myself and my son were attacked by a pit bull while in our open garage. Our mini 12 pound dox Rudi was a true hero trying to protect his mama and boy against a horrible, horrible 80 pound bully.
A speedy recovery to that reese's pb cup darling.

Glad to hear the little guy made it out to tell the tale.

Hits home since I had a close call with a neighbor dog today. He was let out without knowing/caring we were in the next yard (on leashes). The owner isn't far behind when I see the pitbull or boxer mix make a jaunt my way. I say "buddy get your dog." Mine start to bark as he gets closer. I drop and cover them as I'm scooping them.

The dogs and I were both freaked out. I let a string of curses fly as I head back inside. Damn losers can't use common sense.

If the dog had gotten ahold of mine, no question I'd subdue it. Permanately.

Probaly trained to aggressively protect her drug dealing. Pit Bulls pose a real issue for the legal and dog community how to punish or penalize bad or even evilowners without doing the same to responsible loving owners. i don't have the answer but I carry two dog repellent spray cartridges 24/7 and would protect my dog at whatever cost.

Pit Bulls are walking time bombs that can go off at any time. Here in Quebec where I buy my dachies food the store owner used to (a long time ago) breed pit bulls until he realised they were pre disposed to be aggressive. He told me they are time bombs. Breeding pit bulls is now banned where I live, thank goodness.

Our little guy bears the scars from a pit bull attack. He was taken to a pound, stitched up and a rescue grabbed him. He's ours now. Some large dog owners pull faces as they walk by, unaware that our little one has a reasonable beef for barking like crazy. To be fair, most large dog owners smile!

has anyone had experience using the repellent spray during an attack?
